In 2021, the EEF published a report on the importance improving literacy across the curriculum. The report highlights the importance of supporting pupils to understand the disciplinary literacy associated with differing academic subjects.

In this workshop, we will unpick the nuances with what it means to write a scientist. This session will highlight both the disciplinary knowledge, and the subject-specific disciplinary literacy associated with science. Through enhancing our pupils’ understanding of disciplinary literacy, we can support them in reading, writing and effectively communicating through the academic language associated with the subject discipline of science.

This session will go on to provide practical ideas on how we can help support, structure and scaffold our pupils’ writing in science.
