SWALE: Curriculum and the Classroom Environment

 This online CPD session is designed for teachers, curriculum leaders and senior leaders who are interested in the impact the classroom environment has on curriculum implementation.

Research has shown that highly decorated conditions lead to children spending more time engaging in off-task behaviour, and, importantly, that children performed significantly worse in terms of their learning scores.

Through analysing the findings from cognitive psychology, including what we know about working memory, cognitive overload and dual coding, the impact of the classroom environments is considered.
