Teaching Shakespeare (ON DEMAND)

Teaching Shakespeare in primary education lays a solid foundation for future academic success, cultural appreciation, and personal growth. By teaching Shakespeare in primary schools, we can ignite a love for literature, language and drama. Through engaging storytelling, and age-appropriate activities, we can support our pupils to explore Shakespearean characters, themes and plays. From the magical world of “The Tempest” to the tragic love story of “Romeo and Juliet,” our curriculum offers a unique opportunity to explore the breadth and depth of Shakespeare’s plays. 

In this session, we will explore how we have curated an engaging selection of lesson plans, covering some of his most famous works. We’ve carefully selected a range of plays suitable for all ages, from YR to Y6, ensuring that every child leaves primary school with a solid foundation of knowledge about his works, plots, and characters.  We will discuss the sequencing of these units, and how knowledge and skills build over time. Through drama, character analysis, and storytelling, we will unpick how we aim to inspire and excite young minds about all things Shakespeare. 

In this session, we will provide case studies showcasing pupil outcomes from the primary schools we work with.
