Developing Disciplinary Knowledge in Geography

In this session you will think about what disciplinary knowledge is in geography and what role it plays in the primary curriculum. We will consider what our pupils think about the role of a geographer and will unpick possible misconceptions and bias. We will explore examples of disciplinary knowledge embedded in the geography curriculum and consider how we build understanding so that children are learning and remembering more over time. This session will explore how developing disciplinary knowledge can help children to develop a love of geography that they take with them into the next phase of their education.
